Pastoral Region Planning
New Beginnings for Our Pastoral Region
With the start of July 2011, several changes go into effect for Assumption and St. Margaret Mary Parishes as we begin our journey together as the Archdiocese's newest Pastoral Region. With the retirement of Assumption pastor Fr. Bill Kennedy effective on July 6, the implementation of the pastoral region officially begins with Fr. Jerry Gardner assuming new responsibilities as both pastor of St. Margaret Mary and Pastoral Administrator for Assumption.
Fr. Jerry will be assisted by Fr. Tom Snodgrass who will join both parish communities this week as parochial vicar. Fr. Tom will be assisting Fr. Jerry with the Mass schedules and celebrations of the Sacraments at both parishes. The schedule of Masses generally will not change, with each priest scheduled for weekend Masses, Confession, and weekday Masses at one parish then alternating to the next parish’s schedule the following week. Fr. Jerry will celebrate his first weekend Masses at Assumption Parish on July 9/10 while Fr. Tom will preside at the weekend Masses at St. Margaret Mary.
It is necessary for there to be a slight change to the weekday Mass schedule so that Fr. Jerry and Fr. Tom can continue to enjoy their regular days off during the week. There will not be morning Mass on Wednesdays at St. Margaret Mary and on Thursdays at Assumption, replaced by a Communion Service instead.
Continue to pray for both parish communities, as well as for Fr. Jerry and Fr. Tom, as we begin down this new and exciting path.
