All the faithful of the parish are called to share in the mission which God has entrusted to them. The Parish Pastoral Council is a group which assists the pastor in the overall planning and decision-making for the parish representing the wider parish community and which is entrusted with the task of advising the pastor on important matters of pastoral activity.
In its most effective form, the Parish Pastoral Council is the vehicle by which the pastor and his pastoral staff consider and test their own ideas and proposals with a group that represents the entire parish community. It is the official listening post for the local parish community – the pastor listening to his people and the people listening to their pastor.
